Job summary

Axiles Bionics in Brussels is seeking a Software AI Engineer to architect bionics solutions, bridging advanced AI with real-time hardware execution. You will design, train, and embed adaptive AI and Reinforcement Learning policies directly into prosthetic devices, reporting to the CTO within the R&D team.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and quality assurance engineers to ensure on-device AI runs reliably, enabling patients' independence and improving lives worldwide.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 4 years of professional ML/Software Engineering experience.
• Experience with sensor data, ideally inertial sensors.
• Ability to write highly maintainable, testable, robust code.
• Experience applying reinforcement learning and embedded systems is a plus.
• Autonomous, complex problem-solving in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis to drive ML model development.
• Design ML models to embed into prosthetic devices.
• Develop end-to-end AI model development infrastructure.
• Develop software tools for AI development.
• Collaborate with embedded engineers to ensure on-device embedding.
• Write the embedded software to run AI models on-device.
• Participate in planning and project management tasks.
