Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a skilled automotive technician to be the first locally based specialist in our Zeebrugge area office. You will diagnose and repair electric vehicles before they are released and shipped, establishing on-site capability formerly handled abroad.

You will work independently, diagnose faults, perform repairs, and use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot EV systems, high‑voltage components, and charging circuits.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in automotive maintenance, diagnostics or repair.
• Experience with electric or hybrid vehicles is desirable.
• Strong fault-finding in automotive electrical/electronic systems.
• Ability to diagnose and physically repair faults.
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and software.
• Knowledge of EV electrical systems, HV technology and charging.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing, OEM or dealership is advantageous.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical problems.
• English-speaking – Dutch is not required.
• Dutch-speaking candidates are welcome.

Responsibilities

Job description

Location: Approximately 15 minutes from Zeebrugge, Belgium
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Language: English

This is a key technical position and will be the first locally based specialist within the team, taking responsibility for diagnosing and repairing electric vehicles before they are released and shipped to customers.

Currently, more complex vehicle faults require technical specialists to travel internationally to the site. The objective of this position is to establish this technical capability permanently onsite.

The successful candidate will need to be confident working independently and, importantly, have experience both diagnosing faults and completing the required repairs.

Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands‑on experience within automotive maintenance, diagnostics or vehicle repair.

• Experience working with electric or hybrid vehicles is highly desirable.

• Strong automotive electrical/electronic fault‑finding skills.

• Ability to both diagnose and physically repair faults.

• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment and software.

• Understanding of EV electrical systems, high‑voltage technology and charging systems.

• Previous experience within an automotive manufacturer, OEM, dealership or vehicle technical environment would be advantageous.

• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical problems.

• English-speaking – Dutch is not required.
