X4 Life Sciences in Belgium is seeking a Senior E&I Engineer to support chemical process installations and API manufacturing sites, with emphasis on ATEX and hazardous-area environments. On-site, freelance/contract, ASAP start; Dutch preferred, fluent English acceptable.

You will deliver E&I engineering across complex installations, specify and support electrical/instrumentation systems, read P&IDs, and collaborate with process, automation and project teams to ensure safety and industry-standard

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience as an E&I Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer.
• Strong experience in E&I engineering within process industries.
• Proven ATEX / hazardous-area experience is essential.
• Experience with chemical process installations or API manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and other engineering documentation.

Responsabilités

• Deliver Electrical & Instrumentation engineering activities across complex process installations.
• Design, specify and support the installation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Work with instrumentation, control systems and process equipment within chemical/API manufacturing environments.
• Ensure electrical and instrumentation solutions comply with ATEX and hazardous-area requirements.
• Review and develop engineering documentation, including instrumentation specifications, equipment documentation and P&IDs.
• Support equipment selection, installation and technical implementation.
• Work closely with process, automation, electrical and project engineering teams.
• Support commissioning, start-up, testing and troubleshooting activities.
• Identify and resolve technical issues across electrical and instrumentation systems.

Senior E&I Engineer – ATEX | Chemical & API Process Installations

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior E&I Engineer to support engineering activities across chemical process installations and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing sites in Belgium.

The successful candidate will have strong experience across Electrical & Instrumentation engineering, with particular expertise in ATEX and hazardous-area environments.

This role will focus on process installations within API and chemical manufacturing environments, rather than finished drug-product manufacturing. Candidates with strong experience in chemical processing, API production, or similar process industries are therefore particularly relevant.

The requirement is immediate, with candidates available to start at short notice highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as an E&I Engineer, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer or Instrumentation Engineer.
• Strong experience in Electrical & Instrumentation engineering within process industries.
• Proven ATEX / hazardous-area experience is essential.
• Experience working on chemical process installations, API manufacturing or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of process instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Experience with engineering, installation, commissioning and/or troubleshooting activities.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical engineering documentation.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Dutch-speaking candidates preferred, although fluent English-speaking candidates will also be considered.
• Available to start ASAP or at short notice.
• Willingness to work on-site in Belgium.
