Job summary

Akkodis in Belgium seeks a Design Lead to own multidisciplinary engineering activities and coordinate the design of complex industrial installations.

You will lead mechanical, piping, process, electrical, instrumentation and civil teams, oversee 2D/3D design, ensure coherence across disciplines, and drive robust technical interfaces.

The role requires 10+ years in design and 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams, with EPC/process industry experience.

Are you an experienced Design / Engineering professional with a strong background in industrial process installations?

We are looking for a Design Lead to take ownership of multidisciplinary engineering activities and coordinate the design of complex industrial installations.

Your role

As Design Lead, you will act as the technical reference and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the design process.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Mechanical, Piping, Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation and Civil disciplines.
• Oversee the design and sizing of industrial installations and equipment, including tanks, pumps, valves, piping, filtration systems and instrumentation.
• Coordinate 2D/3D designers and draftsmen and ensure consistency across engineering disciplines.
• Manage technical interfaces and ensure the overall coherence and quality of the design.
• Anticipate technical challenges and propose pragmatic, effective solutions.
• Support and challenge engineering teams throughout the different design phases.
• Share your technical expertise and contribute to developing internal engineering competencies.

Your profile

• 10+ years of experience in the design and engineering of industrial/process installations.
• 5+ years of experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of equipment, piping, pumps, valves, tanks/vessels, instrumentation and industrial installations.
• Experience coordinating 2D/3D design activities.
• Good general understanding of Electrical and Civil Engineering interfaces.
• Experience within Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage or other Process Industries.
• Experience within an engineering office, EPC environment or multidisciplinary project team is highly valued.
