Capgemini Invent – Data Strategist
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Data Strategist, you help organizations turn data into a strategic asset by defining how it is structured, governed, and used to enable decision‑making, analytics, and AI at scale.
You combine a strong understanding of data management fundamentals with a pragmatic approach to embedding data practices within business operations. You ensure that data is not only governed, but also structured, interpretable, and usable across the organization, including through semantic layers and shared business definitions and AI‑ready data foundations.
Your role includes:
- Define data strategies and operating models that enable analytics and AI at scale
- Design and embed data governance frameworks that ensure data is trusted, usable, and business‑aligned
- Drive data quality and data management practices to improve reliability and decision‑making
- Assess data maturity and translate insights into actionable transformation roadmaps
- Advise on modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks), semantic layers, and governance tools (e.g. Collibra, Purview), ensuring alignment between business needs and technology implementation
- Support the transition toward data‑as‑a‑product and domain‑based data ownership
- Translate business requirements into clear specifications and coordinate with data and IT teams during delivery
- Contribute to responsible AI and data ethics by defining principles and governance mechanisms for AI use
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A master’s degree in business engineering, applied economics, computer science, data science, information technology, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in data strategy, governance and enablement
- Hands‑on experience with data governance, data quality tools (from a business or functional perspective)
- Ability to work comfortably at the intersection of business and technology
- Fluency in English and Dutch or French
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Good understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling, and the end‑to‑end data lifecycle
- Practical familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA), with the ability to apply them pragmatically rather than theoretically
- Experience contributing to governance initiatives in large, complex, or regulated environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain governance concepts to both business and technical audiences
- A proactive and ownership‑driven mindset, with curiosity to explore topics related to data governance, Data & AI, and emerging regulations
