Job summary

Yonderland is seeking a Data Governance Lead to own the policy set for data across seven brands, collaborating with DPOs, security, and data teams. You will build and oversee the stewardship network, run governance forums, and ensure alignment with privacy and regulatory requirements.

You report to the Head of Data & AI, collaborating with architects and business units to ensure data quality and compliant data practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Senior experience owning data governance in a multi-entity, multi-brand or multi-country organisation.
• Track record building a governance function from the ground up.
• Experience working on GDPR compliance alongside DPOs, security and legal.
• Strong knowledge of governance frameworks and ability to adapt.
• Deep understanding of classification, access management, retention and privacy.
• Knowledge of data observability — lineage, freshness, schema and distribution.
• Technical depth to collaborate with engineers on governance in a modern data platform.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain policies for data classification, retention, access, quality, and privacy.
• Define data ownership, accountability, and data contracts between domains.
• Establish and enforce standards for metadata and documentation; build the network of data owners and stewards.
• Lead governance forums and ensure clear decision-making and escalation processes.
• Act as the contact for DPOs and data teams on governance matters.
• Develop playbooks, templates, and guidelines to support governance implementation.
• Align data protection controls with the security function.
• Define PII and special-category data standards and handling requirements.
• Support GDPR compliance, audits, and other regulatory obligations; own the data observability framework.
• Set data quality standards and adoption across domains.
• Govern the full data lifecycle from acquisition to sharing and compliance.
