Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a Data Engineer to join a large-scale digital transformation in the public sector, focusing on bridging business needs with technical delivery through robust data pipelines and strong data quality controls.

The role involves defining semantic layer KPIs, implementing CI/CD for data models, and supporting BI tools like Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics, or Apache Superset. Hybrid work from Anderlecht, start 13/12/2026 for 12 months.

Qualifications

5+ years in data engineering, data warehousing, or BI.
2+ years in a development team with CI/CD workflows.
Expert SQL and data modeling (Kimball, Data Vault, SCD).
Experience with ETL/ELT and batch processing.
Version control and CI/CD tools (Git, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
BI tools and semantic layers (Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics, Apache Superset).
Data quality and testing automation using dbt tests.
Experience with Jira or Azure Boards.
Fluent Dutch or French, functional English, passive knowledge of the other language.

Responsibilities

Translate architectural standards and business needs into data flow requirements.
Define data definitions and KPIs in a semantic layer for consistent reporting.
Implement data quality rules to detect inconsistencies in data.
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes for BI publication layer.
Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for data models and reports.
Monitor batch processes and data loads with governance and security compliance.
