Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ideally in Azure.
• Strong hands-on SQL development and optimisation.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proven expertise with Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake or similar storage.
• Excellent stakeholder communication; fluent English and Dutch required.

We are working with a leading organisation seeking a Data Engineer to join its growing data team. This is a hands‑on role focused on building, optimising and maintaining an Azure‑based data platform that supports analytics and reporting across the business.

You’ll play a key role in developing scalable data pipelines, enhancing data quality, and ensuring business users have access to reliable, high‑quality datasets. This position would suit someone who enjoys execution‑focused engineering work and wants to contribute directly to the evolution of a modern cloud data platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics
• Build and maintain robust data storage solutions within Azure Data Lake and Synapse
• Develop high‑performance SQL transformations and data processing workflows
• Monitor platform performance and continuously improve reliability, scalability and efficiency
• Ensure data quality, integrity and consistency across the data landscape
• Work closely with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver trusted datasets for reporting and analytics
• Support data governance, security and compliance initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, data flows and platform capabilities

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ideally within a Microsoft Azure environment
• Strong hands‑on SQL development and optimisation skills
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Proven expertise with Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory
• Experience working with Azure Data Lake or similar cloud‑based storage solutions
• Good understanding of data modelling, schema design and database concepts
• Experience handling large‑scale datasets and developing scalable data solutions
• Strong analytical mindset with a practical, delivery‑focused approach
• Able to challenge existing solutions and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non‑technical teams
• Fluent English communication skills
• Dutch language skills are essential
