Altia in Brussels is seeking an experienced Cloud Services Architect Advanced to lead the architecture, implementation, operation and continuous improvement of cloud services supporting enterprise platforms.

You will design scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud environments, driving modernization, cloud governance, FinOps and DevSecOps across complex systems.

Qualifications

• EQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent.
• Ten years+ of IT experience with architecture, design, and implementation of complex IT solutions.
• Professional proficiency in English or French (minimum B2+).
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, OVH).
• Experience with VMware and Hyper‑V.
• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep.
• Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Cloud security architecture and implementation.
• Networking design and security.
• Knowledge of GDPR, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001.
• Backend development background: Java, Python, Spring Boot, Hibernate.
• Experience with cloud-native databases and managed services.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, and evolve cloud architectures for enterprise-grade applications and platforms.
• Define and implement cloud landing zones, governance guardrails, and security baselines.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives from legacy and on‑prem environments.
• Design scalable networking architectures and secure connectivity models.
• Establish cloud security controls aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Define and implement observability solutions including monitoring, logging, tracing and dashboards.
• Design and validate disaster recovery and business continuity strategies (RTO/RPO).
• Drive cloud cost optimization through FinOps, budgeting and governance.
• Collaborate with development teams to implement DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
• Design integration architectures using APIs and event-driven patterns.

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Services Architect Advanced to lead the architecture, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of cloud services supporting critical enterprise platforms, primarily focused on Grant Management/eGrants and Compass Corporate solutions.

The candidate will play a key role in designing scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud environments while driving modernization initiatives, cloud governance, automation, and operational excellence across complex business-critical systems.

This position requires a strong combination of cloud architecture expertise, software engineering knowledge, security best practices, and DevSecOps capabilities.

Location

Remote / Far-site with occasional on-site presence in Brussels, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve cloud architectures for enterprise-grade applications and platforms.


• Define and implement cloud landing zones, governance guardrails, and security baselines.


• Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives from legacy and on-premises environments.


• Design scalable networking architectures and secure connectivity models.


• Establish cloud security controls aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.


• Define and implement observability solutions including monitoring, logging, tracing, and operational dashboards.


• Design and validate disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, including RTO/RPO objectives.


• Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives through FinOps practices, budgeting, forecasting, and resource governance.


• Collaborate with development teams to implement DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.


• Design integration architectures using APIs, event-driven patterns, and messaging systems.


• Support operational excellence across production environments and contribute to continuous service improvement.


• Provide technical leadership, architecture governance, and mentoring to engineering teams.

Minimum Requirements

• EQF Level 7 qualification or equivalent.


• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Information Technology.


• Demonstrated experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of complex IT solutions.


• Professional proficiency in English or French (minimum B2+).


• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform ( AWS, Microsoft Azure, OVH Cloud)


• Experience with VMware and Hyper‑V.


• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes


• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Bicep)


• Scripting expertise in: Python, Bash PowerShell


• Cloud security architecture and implementation.


• Networking design and security.


• Knowledge of (GDPR, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001)


• Authentication and authorization mechanisms: OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, Digital Certificates


• Strong backend development background with: Java, Python, Spring Boot, Hibernate


• Experience with cloud-native databases and managed database services.
