Job summary

European Investment Bank in Luxembourg seeks an Investment Officer to originate and execute equity-type investments across the EU, focusing on Cleantech ventures and venture debt. You will evaluate opportunities, structure deals and prepare investment proposals for approval.

You will report to the Head of Unit, coordinate with internal colleagues, and engage with founders, CEOs, CFOs, and investors. relocation support is offered as part of the package.

Qualifications

• University degree (minimum equivalent to a Bachelor).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience (venture debt, venture and growth capital, private equity or investment banking).
• Cleantech sector exposure and familiarity with equity-type instruments (equity, convertible debt, venture debt).
• Proficiency in financial modelling in MS Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of French (advantage) and other EU languages.

Responsibilities

• Lead direct equity-type transactions across the full investment lifecycle: origination, due diligence, structuring, approval, documentation, execution, disbursement.
• Originate investment opportunities aligned with EIB’s strategic priorities.
• Perform due diligence with internal teams from Projects Directorate.
• Structure transactions and prepare term sheets with equity-type instruments.
• Prepare investment proposals for approval with clear investment thesis and risks.
• Negotiate and execute finance documentation with legal counsel.
• Monitor portfolio companies post-signature up to disbursement.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and non-transactional work.
• Represent the Bank at conferences and sector events.
