Job title – Application Support Engineer

Client Location – Brussels, Belgium

Remote work offering – Hybrid – approx. 60% remote, on‑site presence required 2 days per week by default

Client Industry – Energy / Utilities (Transmission System Operator)

Project focus

A leading European energy transmission operator is looking for an Application Support Engineer to join its Data & Application Support team. The team deploys and supports in-house developed applications across acceptance and production environments, along with core shared middleware (databases, messaging, caching). Work spans application deployment, second‑line troubleshooting, Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) execution, and ongoing operational support in a security‑conscious environment.

Key skills and Experience required

• Recent hands‑on experience deploying and supporting applications on Linux (Red Hat), including log verification, health/performance monitoring and scripting
• Strong recent experience with Windows Server (2012‑2022)
• IIS management and website deployment experience
• Working knowledge of PowerShell
• Exposure to MS‑SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Neo4j or Redis Cache is a plus (training provided where needed)
• Understanding of firewalls and network load balancing concepts
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Comfortable working independently as well as within a team, with strong analytical/troubleshooting skills
• Fluent English plus French or Dutch; German is a plus
• Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call/standby rotation (1 week in 6), and hold a driving licence for standby response
