Job summary

Victorian Government in Melbourne is seeking an experienced leader to join Youth Justice on an ongoing, full-time basis. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement operational policy and practice guidelines across Youth Justice community and custodial operations.

The role requires strategic leadership, strong policy interpretation, and collaboration with internal partners to ensure compliance with the Youth Justice Act 2024 and related legislation.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality work within deadlines.
• Significant knowledge of Youth Justice environment and best practice.
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills for complex policy issues.
• Experience interpreting legislation or applying legal rules to practical situations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across Youth Justice Operations.
• Lead a team of policy and project staff to develop, review and maintain operational policy and practice guidelines.
• Ensure guidance reflects contemporary best practice and complies with Youth Justice Act 2024 and related laws.
• Lead charter assessments of policies and provide authoritative legal, policy and operational advice.
• Build partnerships across internal teams to align priorities and deliver common goals.
