Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria is seeking a policy-focused professional to join Youth Justice in Melbourne on an ongoing, full-time basis. You will support the development, review and maintenance of operational policies and procedures to provide contemporary, evidence-based guidance for staff across community and custodial operations.

You will help implement Youth Justice legislation and policy, ensure compliance with the Youth Justice Act 2024 and human rights

Qualifications

Experience developing, reviewing or implementing policy, procedures or guidance in a complex operational environment.
Ability to interpret legislation and translate it into clear policy guidance.
Charter assessments or human rights analysis desirable.
Strong research and analytical skills with evidence-based approach.
Clear, audience-appropriate written communication and briefing abilities.
Desirable tertiary qualification in law, public policy, criminology or social sciences.

Responsibilities

Support development, review and maintenance of operational policies and procedures.
Ensure policies comply with Youth Justice Act 2024 and related legislation.
Undertake research to inform evidence-based policy guidance.
Collaborate with staff, subject matter experts and stakeholders to produce practical guidance.
