Job summary

You will join Youth Justice in Melbourne to contribute to policy development, review and maintenance, ensuring guidance is contemporary and evidence-based. The role supports implementing Youth Justice legislation and reforms, and helps ensure compliance with the Youth Justice Act 2024 and related standards.

Working with Justice staff and stakeholders, you will develop practical, legally sound guidance tuned to operational needs across community and custodial operations.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting the development, review or implementation of policy, procedures or practice guidance, preferably in a government, justice or human services environment.
• Ability to interpret legislation, policy or administrative requirements with guidance, and apply them to policy and procedural work.
• Exposure to Charter assessments, human rights analysis or legal compliance work is desirable.
• Solid research and analytical skills to support policy and procedural work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, review and maintenance of operational policies and procedures to provide contemporary, evidence-based guidance.
• Assist with the implementation of key Youth Justice legislation, policy and reforms.
• Support work to ensure policies comply with Youth Justice Act 2024, Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006, and Child Safe Standards.
• Collaborate with Youth Justice staff and stakeholders to develop practical, legally sound guidance.
