Job summary

The Department of Justice and Community Safety, Youth Justice division in Melbourne, is seeking a VPS5 policy professional to support development, review and maintenance of operational policies and procedures, ensuring they are evidence-based and practical for staff across community and custodial operations.

You will help implement Youth Justice legislation, policies and reforms, and undertake research to ensure policies reflect current best practice while working closely with staff, subject

Qualifications

Experience developing, reviewing or implementing policy, procedures or practice guidance in a complex operational environment.
Ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into clear policy guidance.
Experience contributing to human rights or legal compliance assessments is desirable.
Strong research and analytical skills using evidence and best practice to inform policy.

Responsibilities

Develop, review and maintain operational policies and procedures to provide contemporary guidance.
Support implementation of Youth Justice legislation, policy and reforms.
Ensure policies comply with the Youth Justice Act 2024, Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006, and related standards.
Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to develop practical, legally sound guidance.
