Job summary

Georges River Council is seeking a Library Officer – Children & Youth to deliver high‑quality programs and services across the Georges River Libraries. You will work with schools, preschools, families and community groups to promote literacy and creativity.

Based at Clive James Library, Kogarah, with flexibility to cover other locations, you will create engaging sessions, conduct outreach, and support data reporting to improve services.

Qualifications

• TAFE Diploma in Library and Information Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience in library services and/or relevant industry work.
• Experience delivering engaging programs and events for children and youth.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reports and presentations.
• Customer-focused service delivery with teamwork capability.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Undertake rostered duties at Georges River Libraries to meet customer expectations.
• Deliver and promote library services that support literacy and lifelong learning.
• Assist in planning, promotion and delivery of programs for children and youth.
• Promote children’s and youth services through publications and outreach.
• Deliver outreach activities connecting families with library programs.
• Facilitate class visits and library tours for schools and community groups.
• Provide excellent customer service across service points.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain welcoming library environments.
• Assist with data collection to support program improvement.
