Job summary

Georges River Council is seeking a Library Officer – Children & Youth to deliver engaging library programs for children, young people and families across the Georges River community. The role focuses on early literacy activities, outreach to schools and community groups, and creating welcoming, inclusive library experiences.

You will work with the Children & Youth Services team, delivering programs from Rhyme Time to educational and recreational activities, while reporting on data and ensuring

Qualifications

• TAFE Diploma qualification in Library and Information Science and/or equivalent experience.
• Experience in library and information services and/or relevant industry experience.
• Experience implementing, promoting and delivering engaging programs, services or events that encourage literacy, creativity and lifelong learning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, deliver presentations and engage effectively with children, young people, families and community groups.
• A highly developed customer-focused approach to service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Well-developed organisational, analytical, time management and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake rostered duties at all Georges River Libraries to meet customer expectations.
• Deliver and promote library and information services that meet the diverse needs and interests of the community, encouraging literacy, creativity and lifelong learning.
• Assist in the planning, development, promotion and delivery of library programs, events and activities for children and young people.
• Contribute to the promotion of children’s and youth services through library publications, digital channels and community engagement activities.
• Deliver targeted community outreach activities that connect children, young people and families with library services and programs.
• Facilitate regular class visits, library tours and introductory sessions for schools, preschools and community groups.
• Provide exceptional customer service and support to library customers across all service points.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to create safe, welcoming and inclusive library environments.
• Assist with the collection and reporting of program and service data to support continuous improvement.
