Job summary

Brooks Hire is opening a brand-new workshop in Broken Hill and seeks an experienced Workshop Foreman to lead the setup and growth of the operation. You will establish processes, build a capable team and ensure the fleet is maintained to the highest standard.

You’ll work hands-on with earthmoving and heavy equipment, overseeing day-to-day workshop operations, maintenance planning and repairs while collaborating with branches across Australia.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience managing a workshop team.
• Hands-on in servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of heavy equipment.
• Strong ability to establish and improve workshop processes.

We are excited to be opening a brand-new branch in Broken Hill and are looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Foreman to take the lead in establishing and growing our workshop operations.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on leader who wants to be involved from the beginning. You will play a key role in setting up the workshop, establishing processes, building a strong team and ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standard.

Working predominantly with our extensive range of earthmoving and heavy equipment, you will oversee the day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on with servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the workshop
• Establishing and maintaining effective workshop processes and procedures
• Servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment
• Coordinating equipment dispatch and returns
• Managing workshop priorities and allocating work
• Monitoring parts, tools and workshop stock
• Liaising with clients and other Brooks Hire branches
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, safety and compliance
• Supporting the growth and development of the new branch

What we're looking for:

• Trade qualification in Heavy Duty Plant Mechanics (Essential)
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Plant Mechanic
• Experience managing a team
• Solid knowledge of Heavy Duty Equipment
• Competence in routine maintenance procedures
• Driver License, HR preferred
• Forklift/High-risk work licenses desirable
• Hands-on approach with sound computer skills
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to pass a Medical including a Drug & Alcohol test
