Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia is seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter to join the Emerald workshop team. You will diagnose, service, and repair a broad range of construction, earthmoving, and mining equipment, delivering high-quality service.

Seeking a trade-qualified fitter with strong diagnostic ability and a safety-focused mindset. You will work both independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment, with ongoing training and clear progression pathways offered.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification in Mobile Plant or Diesel Fitter.
• OR Light Vehicle Mechanic transitioning to heavy machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Experience in workshop/mining/construction is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on heavy equipment.
• Maintain quality standards across workshop repairs and machine assembly.
• Support and mentor apprentices.
• Provide technical input, job estimates, and reports.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our Emerald workshop team.

In this role, you’ll work on a wide range of construction, earthmoving, and mining equipment—handling diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs while supporting high-quality service delivery.
