Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia in Emerald, QLD invites an experienced Field Service Fitter to join the team on a 7/7 roster. You will provide high-quality diagnostics, maintenance and repair services on Hitachi and allied mining and construction equipment at customer sites across the region.

This hands-on role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to build strong customer relationships while maximising equipment performance in the field.

Qualifications

• Diagnostic and fault-finding on mining/construction equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities in field service environments.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• Ability to work independently in remote field locations.
• Proven experience on mining or construction equipment.
• Current Australian driver's licence.
• Willingness to pass pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.
• Team player with continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, repair and replace components on mining equipment.
• Perform breakdown/ fault-finding in field service environments.
• Complete scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure work is performed safely per procedures.
• Maintain accurate service reports and documentation.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional service.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Promote safety and Total Customer Satisfaction at all times.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Field Service Fitter to join our Emerald team on a 7/7 roster. Working across customer sites throughout the region, you will provide high-quality diagnostic, maintenance and repair services on a range of Hitachi and associated mining and construction equipment.

This is a hands‑on role that offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to build strong customer relationships while delivering exceptional service and maximising equipment performance in the field.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, repairs and component replacements on mining equipment
• Conduct breakdown and fault-finding activities in field service environments
• Complete scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance activities
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and customer procedures
• Maintain accurate service reports and documentation
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional and timely service delivery
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Promote a culture of safety and Total Customer Satisfaction at all times

As the Ideal Candidate, You Will Have:

• Relevant Heavy Diesel Trade Qualification or equivalent
• Proven experience working on mining or construction equipment
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently in remote field service environments
• Commitment to workplace health and safety
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Current and valid Australian driver's licence
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol assessment
• A positive attitude with a strong focus on teamwork and continuous improvement
