Job summary

Workpac Group in Mackay, QLD, is seeking a Trade Assistant to support busy workshop operations across multiple trades. You will assist tradespeople, prepare equipment, load and unload materials, and help with maintenance and refurbishment tasks in a safety‑driven environment.

Ideal candidates have prior experience in trade assistant or labouring roles, a current driver's licence, and the ability to perform physically demanding work.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Trade Assistant, Workshop Assistant, Labouring, or Industrial role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work and commit to safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with daily workshop operations.
• Support Fitters and maintenance personnel with repair/refurbishment work.
• Assist spray painting and abrasive blasting crews.
• Prepare equipment and components for maintenance activities.
• Perform general workshop housekeeping duties.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Load, unload, and move materials throughout the workshop.
• Maintain a safe and productive work environment.

Highly Regarded

Experience supporting Fitters, Boilermakers, or Mechanical Trades including:

• Spray Painting experience
• Abrasive Blasting experience
• Industrial, mining, or maintenance workshop experience
• Forklift Licence
• High Risk Work Licences
