Job description

Wollongong Sheet Metal & Engineering is seeking experienced Workshop and Site Boilermakers to join our team in Unanderra, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work across either workshop-based fabrication or on-site maintenance and installation projects. These positions are integral to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the manufacturing and services industry, where safety, workmanship and customer focus are the key to success.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine job requirements
• Perform welding operations using various techniques and materials, ensuring welds meet industry standards and quality requirements
• Work on either or both, workshop-based and on-site work, adapting to different working environments and project requirements
• Operate workshop machinery and equipment, including cutting, bending, and forming tools
• Ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate ininitiative where needed to keep the job flowing
• Work in a team environment with other trade professionals and site supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal working condition

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification in boilermaking, sheetmetal or welding. Post trade qualifications will be highly regarded
• Proven experience working as a boilermaker in workshop and/or site-based environments
• Previous experience in the fabrication of sheetmetal products will be viewed highly for the workshop position
• Demonstrated competency in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
• Current or eligible for White Card certification (Construction Induction Card) for site work
• Valid driver's licence to travel between workshop and site locations
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Physical fitness to perform manual work, including standing for extended periods and working at heights where required
• Preferred experience with metal fabrication, stainless steel work, or industrial maintenance
