Job summary

Opera Australia is seeking an experienced WHS Business Partner to support OA SAFE and deliver safety improvement across diverse teams. You will advise leaders, manage risk, incident and injury processes, and build safety capability throughout the organisation.

You will lead practical WHS improvements, investigate incidents, and work with a dynamic team in a live production environment. Hybrid/flexible working is offered with generous leave and health benefits.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or related discipline.
• 5+ years in a technical WHS advisory or consulting role.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and risk management principles.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, audits and risk assessments.
• Experience with psychosocial risk management and workplace wellbeing.
• High-quality writing skills to develop WHS policies and procedures.
• Experience designing and delivering WHS training content or coaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical risk advice across live production environments and coach leaders to own safety.
• Investigate incidents using structured methodologies and drive root-cause actions.
• Ensure high-risk activities are planned and controlled in line with required safeguards.
• Be visible, support worker consultation, and address concerns promptly.
• Assist injury management and return-to-work processes and workers' compensation matters.
• Lead and contribute to WHS projects and improve OA SAFE frameworks and policies.
• Translate safety data into insights for leadership action.
