Simplified Recruitment Solutions – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an experienced WHS Manager to own safety on a major high-rise residential development in Waterloo, Sydney. This is a hands-on, site-based role, covering short-term leave across Waterloo and Epping before moving permanently to the Waterloo project.

You'll drive WHS compliance, run inspections, review SWMS, spot hazards, mentor the Safety Officer, and collaborate with subbies and site crews. Full Australian work rights in Sydney required.

Qualifications

WHS Manager – High-Rise Residential | Waterloo, Sydney

$160k + super | Long-term project through to late 2028

A leading Sydney high-rise residential builder is looking for an experienced WHS Manager to take ownership of safety on a major development in Waterloo.

This is a hands-on, site-based role for someone who's built their career on the tools and the slab — not behind a desk. You'll cover short-term leave across Waterloo and Epping to start, then move permanently onto the Waterloo project for the duration of the build.

The project

A significant residential development ranging from 6 to 21 levels, programmed through to late 2028. As the site scales, you'll be the person driving consistent safety standards, processes and behaviours across the development.

The role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you'll own day-to-day WHS across the site. You'll work alongside the existing Safety Officer and coordinate with the broader safety function, including a senior National Safety Manager and an EBA roving Safety Officer.

This isn't a systems-and-paperwork role. We want someone who can walk onto a slab, watch the work happening, and immediately know whether trades are operating safely and to their SWMS.

You'll:

• Drive WHS compliance and best practice across a complex high-rise environment
• Run regular inspections, audits and safety observations
• Review and monitor SWMS, ensuring work is performed accordingly
• Spot hazards and shut down risks before they become incidentsEngage directly with subbies, trade supervisors and site crews
• Challenge unsafe practices confidently and constructively
• Support incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
• Maintain WHS documentation and project-specific systems
• Mentor the existing Safety Officer as the project grows

About you

• High-rise construction experience – essential and non-negotiable
• Proven on live, complex high-rise sites
• Strong practical grasp of construction methodology, sequencing, trades and site ops
• Able to assess work in real time and call SWMS compliance on the spot
• Credible and confident with subbies, supervisors and crews
• Proactive, visible, hands-on approach to safety
• Occupational First Aid certification
