Job summary

Council Jobs in Queensland seeks a Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain the Council’s treatment plants in accordance with legislative requirements and policies.

Role includes monitoring parameters, sampling, keeping records, and using SCADA/telemetry to manage plant performance while assisting trainees and coordinating with colleagues across water and wastewater infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Water treatment and wastewater operational experience
• Knowledge of relevant treatment operation legislation
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process issues
• Proficient in MS Office and SCADA/Telemetry systems
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Customer service and teamwork skills
• Commitment to WHS and EEO principles

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to assistant operators and trainees
• Operate, maintain and repair water supply and sewerage infrastructure
• Monitor treatment process parameters and chemical dosing
• Collect samples for analysis and routine testing
• Respond to operational changes to maintain supply and quality
• Maintain logs, asset records and monthly reports
• Utilise SCADA/Telemetry and respond to alarms
• Undertake stocktakes of consumables and maintain stock levels
• Ensure safe handling of chlorine and acids
• Assist in supervising contractors and staff as required
• Participate in training and disaster response activities
