Job summary

Barcaldine Regional Council is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain Council water treatment facilities, ensuring drinking water quality and compliance with standards. The role covers routine inspections, testing, chemical dosing, and plant maintenance in a regional setting.

The successful candidate will possess a current Queensland driver licence, a White/Blue Card, and a willingness to undertake on‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland class ‘C’ Driver Licence.
• Current General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card) or equivalent.
• Willing to undertake on-the-job training.
• Interest in plumbing/water testing.
• Demonstrated recent experience in civil construction and/or maintenance.
• Demonstrated knowledge or ability to gain an understanding of WHS, Quality Assurance and Environmental procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to cooperatively work in a team environment, contributing positively to team operations.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills (interpersonal, written, and verbal).

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor council water treatment plants to ensure water quality meets standards.
• Perform routine inspections, water quality testing, chemical dosing and plant maintenance.
• Monitor treatment processes and respond to operational issues.
• Contribute to safe, reliable drinking water services for local communities.
