Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a Water and Sewerage Network Operations Worker in Bowen to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of water mains and sewer lines, respond to emergencies, and ensure safe, reliable network operations.

The role involves diagnostics, pipe laying, and equipment operation, with certificates and licences required. Enjoy a constructive work environment with clear safety standards and community engagement.

Qualifications

Class MR driver's licence (or willing to obtain)
General Construction White Card
Low voltage certificate (or willing to obtain)
Working at Heights certificate (or willing to obtain)
Working in Confined Space Certificate (or willing to obtain)
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Demonstrated experience in fabrications, repairs, maintenance of pumps and servicing of pipes and mains

Responsibilities

Maintaining, repairing, and installing water mains, sewer lines, valves, hydrants, and associated infrastructure.
Responding to emergency incidents such as water main breaks and sewer overflows.
Conducting inspections using diagnostic tools.
Performing pipe laying, excavation, trenching, and site reinstatement work.
Operating and maintaining pumps, jetting trucks, backhoes, and other machinery.
Reading and interpreting utility maps, engineering plans, and work orders.
Accurately documenting work performed and asset conditions.
Ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and public health standards.
Engaging professionally with supervisors, contractors, and the community.
