Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council in Bowen is seeking a Water and Sewerage Network Operations Worker to join our team. The role covers construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water supply and sewerage infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable service for the community.

Qualifications

• Class MR driver's licence (or willing to obtain).
• General Construction card (White card).
• Low voltage certificate (or willing to obtain).
• Working at Heights certificate (or willing to obtain).
• Working in Confined Space Certificate (or willing to obtain).
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Demonstrated experience in fabrications, repairs, maintenance of pumps and servicing of pipes and mains.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing, and installing water mains, sewer lines, valves, hydrants, and associated infrastructure.
• Responding to emergency incidents such as water main breaks and sewer overflows.
• Conducting inspections using diagnostic tools.
• Performing pipe laying, excavation, trenching, and site reinstatement work.
• Operating and maintaining pumps, jetting trucks, backhoes, and other machinery.
• Reading and interpreting utility maps, engineering plans, and work orders.
• Accurately documenting work performed and asset conditions.
