Job summary

Townsville City Council is seeking a permanent full-time Water Operations Coordinator to support the Water Team in Townsville. You will coordinate site access, permits and safety requirements, ensuring efficient delivery of water operations and maintenance across reticulation networks.

You will participate in the on‑call roster (every 6 weeks minimum) and overtime as needed, with a focus on maintaining water quality and asset performance. This role requires a strong safety mindset and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Mandatory: C class driver’s licence, MR class driver’s licence (or ability to obtain within 6 months), Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
• Ability to work as part of a team to ensure interruptions to water supply are averted or rectified quickly.
• Strong community and customer relations skills and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site access, permits and safety requirements for water operations and maintenance.
• Support Bulk Water Treatment: flushing reticulation mains and monitoring water quality.
• Respond to water quality issues across the network; participate in on-call roster and overtime as required.
• Contribute to disaster management and minimising downtime/costs for assets.
