Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. is seeking a Water Engineer for GEMCO on a 4:3 FIFO roster from Darwin or Cairns.

You will provide technical expertise in surface water management, hydrology and water infrastructure planning to support safe, compliant mining operations. Responsibilities include developing surface water strategies, leading wet season readiness, assessing flood and erosion risks, and coordinating water infrastructure with future mine plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Engineering, Hydrology or a related discipline.
• Project Management qualification, where held as the formal requirement.
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop surface water strategies, plans and technical standards.
• Lead wet season readiness assessments and prioritised work programs.
• Assess flood, erosion, sedimentation and discharge risks.
• Coordinate water infrastructure solutions aligned with future mine plans.
