Job summary

Port Stephens Council is seeking a Team Leader for the Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station. You will lead a team of 7 Waste Operators, oversee weighbridge operations, and coordinate waste reception and sorting while ensuring safety and adherence to council procedures.

Role includes rostering, contractor coordination when needed, and maintaining high standards of service. Permanent full-time position with a 38-hour week and flexible work options.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Waste Management or willingness to obtain.
• Demonstrated experience in waste management or similar field.
• Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
• Sound knowledge of weighbridge operations and Microsoft Office programs or ability to comprehend within probation period.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership and support to a team of Waste Operators.
• Coordinate weighbridge operations and waste collection.
• Ensure on-site safety and compliance with council procedures.
• Roster staff and oversee daily activities at Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station.
