Job summary

Port Stephens Council is seeking a Waste Operator for the Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station. You will provide positive customer service, operate plant including backhoes and forklifts, and assist at the weighbridge as required.

We value safe manual handling and strong communication, with a commitment to WHS standards. This is a permanent, full-time role with the 38-hour week and opportunities for over-time and flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated safe and effective operation of a frontend loader/backhoe to a ‘self load’ capability standard when required, and appropriate WorkCover or equivalent accreditation
• Demonstrated history of manual labouring experience and safe manual handling techniques
• Demonstrated communication skills and experience working within a customer facing environment

Responsibilities

• Provide positive customer service to the community at the Waste Transfer Station
• Operate plant on the floor and assist with weighbridge duties as required
• Work as part of a team while adhering to WHS requirements
