Job summary

Muswellbrook Shire Council is seeking a Waste Facility Team Member to support the daily operations of the Waste and Recycling Facility and Denman Waste Transfer Station. The role focuses on safe waste management, customer service, weighbridge operations, and material handling.

Required are a Certificate III in Waste Management or 12+ months’ experience, NSW White Card, a Class C licence, and Weighbridge competency.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Waste Management, or 12+ months’ relevant experience, or willingness to complete the course.
• Proven Year 10 level literacy/numeracy with ability to complete forms, data entry, and basic cashiering.
• Current NSW White Card (Construction Induction Certificate)
• Class C Driver’s Licence or higher
• Experience operating facilities in line with safety and EPA guidelines
• Weighbridge Operations Statement of Attainment, or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

• Maintain the waste facility and support efficient operations.
• Provide high level customer service to patrons of the facility.
• Operate weighbridge, collect payments, and keep computer records.
• Monitor materials entering facility and guide patrons to access areas.
• Collaborate with staff to determine suitable products for the Recovery Shop.
• Use and maintain small plant and equipment; perform general labouring tasks.
• Ensure compliance with Council Policies and Procedures; and EPA guidelines.
• Undertake manual collection and relocation of varied materials.
• Work with the team to achieve Council’s waste operational goals.

Job description

You will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Muswellbrook Waste and Recycling Facility and the Denman Waste Transfer Station, helping to ensure waste is managed efficiently and safely while maximising resource recovery opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• As a Waste Facility Team Member, you will maintain the waste facility and contribute to the overall upkeep and efficient operation of the site.
• Ensure a high level of customer service to all patrons of the facility.
• Operate the weighbridge; collect appropriate money, and maintain all necessary computer records.
• Monitor and inspect materials entering the waste facility, giving the necessary guidance and direction needed for patrons to access specified areas within the facility.
• Liaise with other staff members to determine suitable products for the Recovery Shop.
• Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power), perform general labouring duties including, but not limited to, mowing and whipper snipping.
• Ensure compliance with Council Policies and Procedures; as well as legislative requirements relevant to the position.
• Undertake manual collection and relocation of varied materials within the Waste Facility.
• Work collaboratively in co-operation with all team members to achieve Council's waste operational goals.

About you
