Job summary

Lane Cove Council in Lane Cove, NSW, is seeking a dedicated Waste Education Officer to support the delivery of the Domestic Waste Service and to engage with households to improve recycling and waste avoidance. This on-site role includes education program development and community outreach across the local area.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to lead small groups and write complex reports.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate education programs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to advise customers on waste and sustainability issues.

Responsibilities

• Support the Waste Contract Coordinator in day-to-day management of the Domestic Waste Service.
• Respond to customer service requests and promote waste education initiatives.
• Roll-out and promote the Food Waste service to meet NSW mandates through education materials, resident engagement and bin checks.
• Conduct research to understand community needs and identify strategies to engage residents in waste avoidance and recycling.
