Job summary

Nufarm at Laverton North (Pipe Road) is seeking a Waste Coordinator to lead waste strategy, ensure EPA compliance, and drive efficiency and better environmental outcomes across the site. You will own waste classification, disposal, reporting and contractor performance, champion improvement projects, and contribute to site governance and HSE committees.

Ideal candidates are hands-on environmental or engineering professionals with extensive manufacturing experience, strong knowledge of waste

Qualifications

• Hands-on environmental or engineering professional with experience in complex manufacturing, construction or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of EPA waste classification and waste management systems.
• Experience driving sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Forklift licence is a plus and data-driven approach to decision making.

Responsibilities

Based in Laverton North at our Pipe Road major hazard manufacturing facility (MHF), we are looking to engage an experienced and results oriented Waste Coordinator to join our quality team. This is a pivotal role shaping waste management excellence at the Pipe Road site. You will provide guidance to ensure full compliance with EPA legislation and Nufarm HSE standards, while actively driving operational efficiency and stronger environmental outcomes.

As the site’s waste specialist, you will design and deliver a robust waste strategy, build capability across the operations team, and take end‑to‑end ownership of waste classification, disposal, reporting, and contractor performance. You will champion continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and cost, support incident management and MOC processes, and ensure accurate data integrity and financial forecasting.

The role also plays a key part in site governance, contributing to audits, HSE committees, and broader sustainability goals—making a tangible impact on environmental performance and culture across the site.

How You’ll Help Us Grow

• Serve as the waste management subject‑matter expert for the Pipe Road manufacturing site, providing both strategic leadership and hands‑on operational support
• Partner with and coach the Pipe Road Leadership Team to build capability and embed effective, compliant waste management practices
• Develop and deliver the site’s waste strategy, coordinating improvement initiatives and driving execution to reduce waste and improve environmental performance
• Lead coordination of waste‑related incident and Management of Change (MOC) processes, including investigation, analysis, and follow‑up actions
• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for waste classification, handling, treatment, and disposal
• Oversee waste data, inventory, reporting, and disposal activities, ensuring accurate records, strong governance, and clear monthly reporting
• Manage waste management contractors and support financial forecasting through accurate data and cost insights
• Drive continuous improvement through waste reduction projects, audits, and participation in Nufarm HSE committees to strengthen site and enterprise outcomes

Could This Be You?

You’re a hands‑on environmental or engineering professional with extensive experience in complex manufacturing, construction, or heavy industry environment. You bring strong expertise in EPA waste classification, waste and environmental management systems, sustainability and energy efficiency, and are confident navigating Australia’s MHF regulatory landscape—particularly within chemical manufacturing. Holding a forklift licence is a plus!

You are comfortable leading and influencing diverse subject‑matter experts, you communicate clearly and credibly at all levels, including with government and regulatory bodies. You’re highly organised, data‑driven, and advanced in Microsoft Office tools, using insight to drive sound decisions. Experience with risk management, auditing, incident investigations, and improvement methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis or Lean/Six Sigma will set you apart, but above all, you’re motivated to make a meaningful impact on safety, compliance, and environmental performance.
