Job description

As Warehouse Manager at Tate, you will take ownership of our warehouse operations across Sydney, playing a key role in supporting our manufacturing and project delivery activities. This is a practical, hands‑on leadership role where you will work closely with the team on the warehouse floor, set clear standards and improve the way materials and finished products move through the business.

You will be accountable for safe and efficient warehouse operations, strong inventory control, effective use of warehouse space and the accurate receiving, storage, transfer and dispatch of raw materials, finished goods, traded products and factory supplies.

The Leadership Style We Are Looking For

You are a hands‑on, practical leader who likes to be actively involved in the day‑to‑day operation, working alongside your team rather than managing from the sidelines. You bring strong warehouse and inventory management experience, confident people leadership skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Comfortable in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, you lead by example, take ownership and get involved in solving problems while keeping safety, accuracy, service and efficiency front of mind.

Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations

Lead day‑to‑day warehouse operations across Sydney, including receiving, put‑away, storage, internal transfers, picking, packing, dispatch and distribution.

Be visible and actively involved in the operation, supporting the team to resolve issues and maintain consistent standards.

Plan labour, workflow and daily priorities to meet manufacturing, project and customer requirements.

Develop and maintain warehouse layouts, storage systems and material‑flow processes that improve space utilisation, safety and productivity.

Coordinate with Manufacturing, Projects and Purchasing to ensure materials and finished goods are available and moved on time.

Manage relationships with transport providers, suppliers and subcontractors to support reliable and cost‑effective logistics.

Inventory Control and Management

Inventory control is a key accountability of this role. You will take ownership of stock accuracy and inventory integrity across all warehouse locations, ensuring system records reflect the physical movement and location of stock.

Maintain accurate control of raw materials, finished goods, traded products and factory supplies.

Establish and manage robust cycle‑counting, stocktake, reconciliation and traceability processes.

Investigate inventory variances promptly, identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensure all receipts, transfers, issues, returns and dispatches are accurately and promptly recorded in the relevant ERP or warehouse management system.

Improve stock‑location discipline, labelling, warehouse layout and material flow to strengthen visibility and control.

Monitor stock levels, ageing, slow‑moving and obsolete inventory, escalating risks and recommending appropriate action.

Build clear ownership and accountability for inventory accuracy across the warehouse team.

Lead, coach and develop Warehouse Team Leaders and warehouse team members, setting clear expectations and providing regular feedback.

Create a positive, accountable and collaborative team culture where people work safely, communicate openly and take pride in the operation.

Manage performance, attendance, capability and training requirements in partnership with the Plant Manager and HR.

Ensure appropriate onboarding, training and competency verification for warehouse activities and equipment.

Safety, Compliance and Continuous Improvement

Maintain high standards of workplace health and safety, housekeeping, security and safe material handling.

Ensure warehouse activities comply with company procedures, applicable legislation and site requirements.

Identify and implement practical improvements to warehouse systems, controls, workflows and team practices.

Monitor operational performance and use data to improve stock accuracy, productivity, lead times and service delivery.

Commercial and Performance Management

Manage warehouse operating costs and contribute to annual budgeting and workforce planning.

Monitor relevant measures such as inventory accuracy, stock variances, cycle‑count completion, picking accuracy, on‑time dispatch, OTIF/DIFOT, safety and warehouse productivity.

Prepare clear operational reports, highlight risks and recommend actions to the Plant Manager and wider Operations team.

Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising safety, inventory integrity or service.
