Job summary

Blacktown City Council is offering a 12-month, full-time placement for students in planning. The program provides six months in Urban Planning and Economic Development and six months in Development Assessment, working with experienced planners on projects shaping how Blacktown City grows.

You will research planning issues, assist with planning studies and strategic plans, and support the preparation and monitoring of planning controls.

Qualifications

• Currently studying a relevant qualification in planning or related field.
• Enjoys research, problem-solving and working with others.
• Willing to learn planning legislation and apply it to day-to-day decisions.

Responsibilities

• Research planning issues and assist with planning studies and strategic plans.
• Support preparation and monitoring of planning controls.
• Assist in assessing development applications and providing planning information to developers, Council staff and the public.
• Collaborate with consultants and other organisations on projects.
