Job summary

Blacktown City Council’s Urban Planning and Economic Development team gathers and translates legislation, evidence and stakeholder input into practical planning advice for city growth. You will research land use, transport, housing, environmental and community issues, and prepare reports, recommendations and planning strategies.

The role requires a planning degree, urban planning experience, and knowledge of NSW planning legislation.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree in planning or a related field.
• Urban planning experience required.
• Understanding of NSW planning legislation.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Ability to analyse planning issues.
• Capability to manage projects and competing priorities.
• Work effectively across Council.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and recommendations.
• Develop planning strategies, policies, environmental planning instruments and development control plans.
• Contribute to community consultation.
• Draft responses to State Government planning initiatives.
• Maintain Section 10.7 Planning Certificate data and GIS mapping layers.
• Provide advice to customers and colleagues.
• Support projects from research through to implementation.
