Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Engineer to design, build and operate resilient infrastructure across on‑premises, hybrid and cloud environments. You will partner with architects, project managers, and security teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions that align with enterprise goals.

The role emphasizes automation, Infrastructure as Code, and proactive problem solving to improve deployment consistency and long‑term platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Unix/Linux Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer in enterprise-scale environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise Unix/Linux platforms and system administration, performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Shell scripting and automation for provisioning, configuration management, patching and upgrades.
• Understanding of storage, networking and infrastructure services (filesystems, LVM, SAN/NAS, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, NFS).
• Experience with security hardening, vulnerability remediation, backup and recovery, monitoring, high-availability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, test and transition Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-prem, hybrid and cloud environments.
• Support major infrastructure projects including platform upgrades, migrations and cloud adoption.
• Collaborate with architects, project managers, application, database, network, storage, cybersecurity and operations teams.
• Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code to improve deployment consistency, operational efficiency and long-term platform reliability.
