Job summary

Leidos Australia is seeking a Systems Engineer – Unix to design, implement and support Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-prem, hybrid and cloud environments. You will contribute to critical infrastructure modernization and security alignment.

You'll collaborate with architects, project managers and operations teams to deliver resilient, scalable solutions, automate provisioning, and ensure production readiness for enterprise workloads in a dynamic government/defence context.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Unix/Linux Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer in enterprise-scale environments.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms (IBM AIX, RHEL, SUSE, Solaris, HP-UX or equivalent) with admin, performance tuning.
• Shell scripting and automation for provisioning, configuration, patching and upgrades.
• Understanding storage, networking and infra services (FS, LVM, SAN/NAS, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, NFS).
• Security hardening, vulnerability remediation, backup/recovery, monitoring and high availability.
• Ability to document technical work and manage risks with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, test and transition Unix/Linux infrastructure across on-prem, hybrid and cloud environments.
• Support major projects including platform upgrades, migrations, modernisation, and cloud adoption initiatives.
• Partner with architects, project managers, application, database, network, storage, cybersecurity and operational teams to deliver secure, resilient and supportable infrastructure solutions from design through production handover.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement through scripting, Infrastructure as Code and modern engineering practices.
