Job summary

Anglo American Australia is seeking an experienced Longwall Mechanical Production Fitter for Moranbah North Mine. You will perform planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on longwall equipment, inspect shearers and roof supports, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems to keep the operation safe and productive.

Reporting to the Longwall Mechanical Supervisor, you will work with production and maintenance teams, follow safety controls, and contribute to a high-performing crew.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification.
• Experience working in an underground coal mine.
• Previous longwall mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience with shearers, AFCs, BSLs, roof supports and hydraulic systems.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. (as part of maintenance)
• Clear understanding of isolation and stored-energy controls.
• Strong safety awareness and hazard-identification skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a production-focused team.
• Good communication and practical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Performing planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on longwall equipment.
• Inspecting, maintaining and repairing shearers, AFCs, BSLs and powered roof supports.
• Maintaining and fault-finding hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Diagnosing equipment faults and completing practical repairs to minimise production delays.
• Supporting longwall production and equipment availability.
• Completing equipment inspections and identifying emerging defects.
• Assisting with component changeouts, installations and longwall moves when required.
• Following isolation, stored-energy and underground risk-control requirements.
• Completing work orders and maintenance records accurately.
• Working closely with operators, electricians and other trades.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and equipment care.
• Contributing to a positive, respectful and safety focused crew.
