Job summary

Anglo American in Middlemount, QLD is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to own hands-on engineering for underground mining equipment and fixed plant assets. You will work with maintenance and operations to improve reliability, identify improvements, and ensure safe, efficient production outcomes.

The role reports to the Maintenance Superintendent EEM and requires strong analytical and communication skills, with experience across longwall systems and underground operations being highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or resource operations.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability principles.
• Ability to analyse technical issues and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• SAP experience is advantageous.
• Queensland mining experience will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to underground coal operations, longwall systems, conveyors, fixed plant or mobile equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support across underground mining equipment and fixed plant assets.
• Drive equipment reliability and maintenance improvement initiatives.
• Manage asset integrity and engineering compliance activities.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement sustainable solutions.
• Support longwall, development and outbye maintenance teams.
• Lead and contribute to capital and improvement projects.
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to improve equipment performance, availability and safety.
• Ensure compliance with site standards, statutory requirements and engineering best practices.
