Job summary

Anglo American in Moranbah, QLD, is seeking an experienced Longwall Superintendent to lead the underground longwall operation. The role centers on safety leadership, balancing production with available resources, and coordinating across maintenance, engineering and technical services to deliver reliable performance.

You will guide planning, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with legislative requirements and site standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive operational leadership experience within underground coal mining.
• Strong longwall production knowledge and ability to manage second workings.
• Proven track record in leading large operational teams.
• Solid knowledge of Queensland coal mining legislation and underground safety systems.
• Experience with TARPs, risk management and changing mining conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible safety leadership across all longwall activities.
• Lead longwall production teams to meet safety, production and operational targets.
• Coordinate daily and weekly priorities across production, maintenance and technical functions.
• Monitor longwall performance and respond to changing conditions and risks.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, site standards and Safety & Health Management System.
• Lead application and review of operational controls and risk assessments.
• Support longwall planning, panel readiness and safe production activities.
• Review production performance, equipment availability and shift reporting.
• Collaborate with Underground Mine Manager and cross-functional teams.
• Develop leadership capability through coaching and feedback.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, reliability and work practices.
