Job summary

Peabody in Glenden, Australia seeks a geotechnical professional to contribute to mine design through rock mechanics principles. You will develop standards for slope/ground monitoring and lead geotechnical inspections of pits, undergrounds, dumps and tailings dams.

The role requires 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, with oversight responsibilities for staff and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements across surface and underground

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent training.
• Experience applying rock mechanics to open pit, underground, and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement standards for slope/ground monitoring and mine infrastructure.
• Develop monitoring regimes for dumping, surface runoff, groundwater, and slope monitoring.
• Conduct geotechnical inspections of pits, undergrounds, dumps, stockpiles and tailings dams.
• Advise engineers on geotechnical issues for mine design/planning and operations.
• Supervise geotechnical engineers and technical staff in daily activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned by the company.
