Job summary

AMC Consultants, now part of AFRY, is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in any Australian office including Melbourne. You will lead open pit and underground geotechnical projects, mentor engineers, and deliver high quality reports and risk assessments for major mining clients.

Experience leading technical teams, strong communication, and a track record in technical delivery across feasibility and mine operations is essential. AusIMM CP status encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in open pit/underground mining with strong technical/practical focus.
• Demonstrated capacity to work independently with strong problem-solving and interpersonal abilities.
• AusIMM CP status in geotechnical engineering would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Contribute strong technical expertise across open pit and/or underground mining methods.
• Provide consulting support and practical engineering solutions to clients.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Prepare, review and provide technical assurance for reports, designs and project deliverables.
• Undertake geotechnical investigations, analysis, modelling and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Deliver high-quality reports, presentations and project documentation.
• Support project management activities and uphold AMC’s values and standards.
• Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.
