Job summary

Peabody is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to support the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Project and broader mining initiatives across Australia. The role emphasizes design, sequencing, and strong stakeholder engagement with flexibility for site travel within Peabody’s Australian operations.

The ideal candidate has extensive mining experience, proficiency in Deswik/Vulcan/AutoCAD/Spry, and a current Australian Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in open-cut and underground mining operations.
• Proven experience in mine design, rehabilitation planning, and mine infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, Spry).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Current Australian Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining engineering and technical support for the Wambo Tailings Rehabilitation Projects.
• Develop and manage designs and operational sequencing plans.
• Liaise with the open cut mine operator to coordinate mine waste material supply and logistics.
• Provide engineering and technical support into mining and infrastructure designs at other Peabody Operations in Australia.
• Collaborate with site teams and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and environmental objectives.
• Support approvals processes through technical documentation and design validation.
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and reporting.
• Assist with special projects that arise within the Technical Services Group, including BD, Continuous Improvement, Software Evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with Peabody’s safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Travel to other Peabody sites as required to support mining and infrastructure initiatives.
