Job summary

BHP's Broadmeadow Mine in the Bowen Basin seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to provide strata control and geotechnical support for development and production, ensuring safe mine plans and ground control design. You will work with operations and other departments to ensure alignment with safety and regulatory requirements.

A degree in Geotechnical Engineering is essential; experience in underground coal mining and proficiency with VULCAN, Deswik, AutoCAD, and LVA are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and report writing skills are essential.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with all levels of mine operations.
• Demonstrated capability to engage with personnel and influence outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for geotechnical processes and outcomes per hazard management plans and site systems.
• Provide geotechnical advice to mine plans, strata control, hazard management and ground control planning.
• Conduct investigations into geotechnical concerns to identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Develop hazard management recommendations in consultation with risk & control owners and stakeholders.
• Maintain records and report information relevant to geotechnical hazards.
• Communicate safety information and risk management activities to personnel and stakeholders.
• Comply with regulations, policies, standards and procedures.
