Job summary

Anglo American is seeking an Underground Geology & Geotechnical Superintendent to lead the geotechnical team at Moranbah North and provide technical guidance for the underground operation. This role focuses on delivering high-quality geotechnical outcomes in a safe and efficient manner.

The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to coordinate data collection, risk assessments, and strata management across the mine site in Moranbah, QLD.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• Qualified Geotechnical Engineer; RPEQ registration desirable.
• Experience in underground coal mining.
• Strong strategic thinking, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and leadership of geotechnical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Geotechnical Engineers and Geologists.
• Coordinate collection, analysis and evaluation of geotechnical data and risk assessments.
• Uphold high strata management standards as per the Operations Management System.
• Provide strategic advice to Technical Services and Operations on geotechnical issues.
• Lead mine-site improvement projects and ensure timely resourcing and execution.
