Job summary

Anglo American is seeking an experienced Underground Gas Drainage Coordinator to join our Moranbah North Mine in Queensland. The role leads planning, design and monitoring of underground drainage programs to support safe development and longwall operations.

Reporting to the Ventilation and Gas Superintendent, you will manage drilling contractors, review borehole data and ensure compliance with site standards and permits. This is a permanent role in a vibrant Technical Services team.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground coal mining and underground gas drainage.
• Experience coordinating underground in-seam drilling or gas drainage programs.
• Strong understanding of gas behaviour, borehole design and drilling operations.
• Ability to interpret mine plans, geology data and gas monitoring results.
• Knowledge of gas drainage risk controls, permits and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safe planning and delivery of underground gas drainage activities.
• Design drilling patterns aligned with mine plans and geological conditions.
• Develop borehole designs and flight plans with accuracy.
• Review gas content, permeability and seam conditions for drilling programs.
• Coordinate drilling schedules ahead of development and longwall mining.
• Monitor drilling performance and drainage effectiveness to ensure targets are met.
