Job summary

Insitu Pacific is seeking a Software Tester in Brisbane to ensure UAV and ground control software meets quality, reliability, and safety standards. You will develop and run tests, document results, and work with engineers to resolve defects.

Experience with UAVs, C++/C# basics, and Jira/Confluence is valued, along with the ability to operate in mixed software/hardware environments and support secure testing practices.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in information technology, software, or a related field.
• 2+ years' experience in a technical or engineering role within commercial, defence, or related systems.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
• Comfortable working in mixed software/hardware environments.
• Strong attention to detail and systematic problem-solving ability.
• Good communication skills; able to contribute in team environments and follow established procedures.
• Experience working with, operating, or testing UAVs and related systems.
• Basic coding experience in C++ and/or C# .NET for investigating potential software defects, understanding code behaviour, and performing basic software development tasks.
• Experience testing graphical user interfaces, embedded software, or control systems.
• Exposure to requirements management tools and traceability.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence).
• Knowledge of basic cybersecurity and secure testing practices.
• Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
• Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
• You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024.

Responsibilities

• Help develop, review, and execute test cases and scripts based on software requirements and specifications.
• Conduct functional, integration, regression, and system testing of UAVs and ground control software.
• Identify, document, and report defects; work with the development team to clarify and resolve issues.
• Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments, including Hardware in the Loop and Simulation labs.
• Participate in requirements reviews and provide input on testability and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain test documentation such as plans, cases, results, and defect reports.
• Support configuration management and version control practices.
• Contribute to process improvement by providing feedback on software testing tools and procedures.
